About the event
Our goal is to educate the community about the contributions and resilience of Mr. Lewis Monroe Noble, who humorously preferred to go by his initials, L.M., which he jokingly claimed stood for "Lots of Money".
In 1956, Mr. Noble founded LM Subdivision, also known as Noble Court, which was the first Black subdivision established in Columbia, MO. Additionally, we aim to provide information about the original eight homeowners and to showcase a Youth Art Contest titled “The Black Neighborhood in 2025.”
Twelve years ahead of the groundbreaking 1968 Fair Housing Act, Mr. Noble, an innovative black entrepreneur, laid the foundation for the LM Noble subdivision in 1956 in Columbia MO, defying barriers and setting a powerful precedent for future generations.
